Star Wars fans: Remember the Remastered Celebration Scene in ROTJ?
Yes, I feel like a complete dork bringing this up, and yes I know that the 1997 versions are somewhat taboo. That said, I keep thinking about the scene where "people" on every planet are celebrating the fall of the Empire. I have no idea what to expect tomorrow night, but it seems like an apt comparison.

1. That's what I've been saying over and over
The music from that scene is #1 on my victory playlist if Obama wins

8. I'm a big fan of the re-edits (save for Greedo shooting first)

but I think the original Ewok victory song will be the one playing in my mind. Though, I can imagine thoughts of near worldwide celebrations that will give me the visuals you speak of.

10. God I hated that scene.
1. Coruscant was the homeworld of the Empire. TIE fighters flying in parade formation over Coruscant would be like F-15s flying in parade formation over a cheering Washington crowd after the President was assassinated in an enormous terror attack.

2. The movies make it very clear that Tatooine is outside both the Republic and the Empire that followed it. It is ruled by slave-owning thugs and criminals. What are they cheering for? "Hurray, the leader of the government halfway across the galaxy--a government that has absolutely no bearing on our miserable lives--is dead!"

3. The change in music makes the happy-happy celebration seem bizarrely out of place.

12. Agreed. Lucas pretty much raped my childhood with his prequels as well...

16. Actually, I'm one of the few Star Wars fans who doesn't hate the prequels.
There are enormous deficiencies, yeah, but all things considered, I think there's more positive than negative in the prequels.

18. Here's the deal:
I saw EpI and EpII and hated them. I actually liked EpIII.

But then I let my 4 year old son watch EpI and II and he loves them. Is absolutely entranced by them, especially II.

So now I take Lucas at his word when he said they were basically kid's films. If they were the target audience, then I guess he bullseyed them like Womp Rats.

Now, as for the ethics of making two kids films and following them up with a movie in which the hero is brutally disfigured, corrupted, and murders small children, I leave that as an exercise to the reader.

19. I thought that the prequels were actually pretty good myself
particularly the last two. Revenge of the Sith was nearly on par with Empire Strikes Back and my personal favorite, Return of the Jedi.

13. NOOOO! I'm a huge SW fan...went to Celebration IV last year, etc..
....I would rather celebrate with the final music from Star Wars IV: A New Hope (the first one)! Those Ewoks still piss me off after all this time (SW: ROTJ came out in 1983?).

The final scene in original Star Wars represents everything I feel about this campaign, etc....

I DO love SW references in any political campaign, though! WOOT!

Barack Obama (and his alter-ego Luke Skywalker) 2008!

14. i cut lucas some slack.
hey, it's HIS masterpiece, so he's free to do whatever.

although that time and effort would've been better used on "howard the duck", like changing it into a completely different movie.

p.s. vader is a republican:

22. Agreed! As long as he doesn't suppress the originals
he can do whatever the f*ck he wants.

And I can :puke: at Eps 1-3, which I refuse to accept as legit.
