Last comment on why I believe Obama will win Indiana - or at least be extremely close
and either result is a harbinger for how large the landslide will be for Obama.

One week Obama comes to Indianapolis and draws a crowd of 21,000.

Palin comes the next week to a suburb just north of Indianapolis and draws a crowd of 24,000.

The next week Obama announces a change of plans as he is making a trip to Hawaii to spend time with his very ill grandmother - and with about a days notice he adds another trip to Indianapolis and draws a crowd of more than 30,000.

The next week Obama makes another visit - not to Indy but to Lake County (Gary area) and draws a crowd of more than double the size of the latter Indy visit.

Less than a week later McCain makes a visit to Indianapolis (publicized over the weekend) and draws a crowd of... 5,000.

The Obama ground game has been huge here. The early vote numbers have been huge, and reportedly significantly favor Obama. There is a very good chance that Obama will win here. So what?

This state is full of notorious "vote splitters" (in terms of parties), but has also been notorious for voting red at the top of the ticket (save 1964). Even the major paper in the state has been talking about vote splitting ala Obama for Pres and Daniels (rep.) for governor.

While you watch the bigger name swing states tomorrow night for a clue as to how the country will go ... I suggest you watch Indiana as well. We turned three GOP congressional seats form GOP to dem in 2006. We are volatile (per how we vote). We also have short voting hours (7 am - 6pm) so results should be early - but the huge amount of early voting might make results delayed. If it is a close race and McCain win - many swing states might turn blue. If Obama wins - it is hard to imagine any scenario where he doesn't "run the table" per winning the majority of the swing states.

Living in Indiana - and seeing such a huge swell of support for Obama - combined with such little energy/work form the McCain campaign, I find it hard to believe this will be anything but a horse race election. And that NEVER happens at the presidential level.

1. I'm pulling for Indiana too.

I phonebanked people there. I hope he holds his own in the southern part.

4. the energy for a democratic candidate for president is unprecedented
for the past three decades (maybe more - but that is as far as my political memory goes back.)

Thank you for your time phonebanking. Sincerely, thank you. You are part of why the energy is so different here, this year.

9. Me, too!
Please don't get discouraged if vote counts are repeated late - on the one hand our polls end early, but on the other hand huge numbers have voted early and that might take time to count.

Again I thank you for taking time to call Hoosiers. This state might very well go for Obama and it would be a huge upset. Folks getting involved on the ground - or by distance, seem to have made a real impact.

Peace.

15. Indianapolis/Marion County
and at least one day a week in Bloomington - but B-ton has never been representative of the state in my adult memory.

2. Listen to Greg Palast on Mike Malloy if you can.
They're talking about 500k voters being purged from the rolls in Indiana. I hope turnout overwhelms the purging.

I tend to trust them on it.

13. I have not heard word "boo" about this
and I read multiple news sources daily. Unfortunately I have to retire shortly tonight. If there is a link to a podcast of this interview I would be extremely interested in a link to it.

The turn out so far is in many places 3 times more than 2004. I, too, hope that the huge turnout (and early voting has been huge) overwhelms purging.

16. if so- it is big. Indiana has rarely gone blue for the president
over the past 70 years. It would/will be historic, and a big bit of forshadowing for the election results across the country.

17. In my voting life,
I can not remember a time when it was even possible that the democratic candidate might win.

Perhaps I am overly optomistic, but I have *never* seen ground conditions like this year.

10. In our small , very red county
here in west central Indiana, we have had a team of 30 volunteers working to GOTV.

I'm scheduled from 10 to 4 tomorrow.

Even if we don't win (and I hope we do), we sure made them sweat.
