What should I do if a Republican is running uncontested?
I just checked a sample ballot for my area, and it looks like there are several elections taking place where the only options is to vote for the Republican, or choose a Write-In.

Do I just skip those races and not vote for anyone? Do I vote for Write-In? How does a Write-In vote work? Do I have to fill out something extra, or can I do it on the same voting machine (it will be a touchscreen)?

1. Vote for the best person you can think of for the job
it might be you or a friend from work. I do it all the time and sometimes if I had gotten a few people on the same person they may have even won. I don't know about the technical aspects of the touchscreen but I assume there would be some kind of option.

2. Ask a poll-worker how the write-in option works on a touch-screen. That's what they're there for.
Otherwise play it safe and leave it blank. Someone running unopposed is a shoo-in anyway.

4. I skip every nonpartisan race with dueling Republicans
If it's an uncontested race with a Republican, I also leave it blank.

It's a pain in the ass to research those nonpartisan races, but if you Google the names with terms like Republican or Democrat you can generally figure out their allegiance. I also like to use endorsements from Democratic-leaning organizations.

5. I write in a friend's name.
I will never vote for a repukes. Here in rural TN we get a lot of useless repukes running uncontested. I always write in a friend's name instead of voting for a repuke.

6. I always vote for my Dad
Write in vote. When I can't vote for either candidate or the candidate if there is only one because I know they are awful
