Something HORRIBLE about the Rev. Wright ads running non stop
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 04:17 AM by PretzelWarrior
just ahead of one of the most momentous and transformational elections I've ever seen in my life. No, THE most transformational. Nothing in my life comes close (born in 1969).

But here is McFailin' who KNOW in their hearts that this is over...churning a nonstop cycle of these ads on MSNBC, NBC, etc. They are just sooooo sad for America.

It really shows us what kind of a dark cesspool we're trying to pull ourselves out of.

1. It's overkill with mind-numbingly bad timing.
Good gawd almighty, keep these people far away from government.

4. exactly. These dumbshits are getting all the slime part going
while ensuring no positive effects accrue to McCain by running them so late.

2. I wish they'd run his whole sermons instead of just a few seconds of him.
I LOVE that guy! :woohoo:

3. yeah. that's another thing. I would love to hear more of Wright.
Because I think he OBVIOUSLY has some sound points he makes. IT is sad that his language was so colorful and frightening to the typical white person....

and it is even more unfortunate that Wright chose to make himself even more of an issue in this election than he had been. I still don't fully understand his motivations for behaving at the Press Club the way he did.

Regardless, the low and cynical forces of our country are just giving the whole thing a bruise that sticks out. We'll survive with no big deal....but it hurts and looks ugly.

8. What's odd is...

Evangelicals in particular should recognize the "Jeremiad" as a form of prophetic warning against the sins of nations.

A good chunk of Old Testament prophecy consists of long denunciations of Israel.

18. I just wish he hadn't said, "God damn America"
I often hate what our government does, but I love this country.

11. oh I know it won't work....but it's still very sad.
when I read the Newsweek article about how the WORLD sees our election vs. the "smallness" of the election choice in many typical Americans' minds...it's just a bit sad that this exists.

Oh well. I will get over it QUICKLY when they're turning states blue on the TV networks and calling them for Obama tonight. FOR REAL.

6. It's the Willie Horton legacy. He's trying to cash in on racist fears when it's too late
for Obama to recover.

Shows something about the two parties, doesn't it? Obama saved his cash for a last minute infomercial with a positive, uplifting message of hope, and McCain spent his last was on white-hooded racist attacks that will probably do no more than rile the vipers in the pits into even more overt hatred. I had some respect left for McCain in a vague sort of way, but no more. He crossed the Rubicon with this, crossing into Ronald Reagan/Lee Atwater territory. I hope he loses badly and I hope it shatters his soul, or what's left of it.

is running an uplifting ad for Obama. It's like a fresh spring shower compared to their cesspool.

12. good point. McCain will undoubtedly hide behind the fact that it's a 527
group running these ads (undoubtedly with money from GOP).

But that is the great point. Obama's connections run a just OUTSTANDING closing message to that Paul Simon song. wonderful contrast you bring up.

13. It is ..
It's like night and day. The McShame ad is all dark and menacing, and then you see the Obama ad that is light, airy, wide open, peaceful, hopeful.

It is THE choice of our generation.

10. Out of nowhere the GOP suddenly bombards America with Rev.Wright.
Maybe my bias is showing, but It just seems so awkward.

14. I'm actually starting to enjoy the ad...jk
But there is something pleasant about the way the ad ends with Barack and Rev. Wright with these really warm inviting smiles. After watching it a few times, it actually humanizes Rev. Wright for me.

These cats are pretty cool. And this Wright guy gives a hell of a sermon. And the dude is right. But much of white America just can't handle the truth.
