Today, Dr. Martin Luther King must be smiling. Since his death, there haven't been a lot of defining moments in America for him to smile about, but today.....TODAY! No doubt his face sports a grin so wide his ears disappear. I have been thinking of him all week, since this thing has looked like it was in the bag. If I had one wish, it would be to bring him back for this one day! Racism is not dead by any means, but it will be dealt a decisive defeat today in America. AMERICA!
I have to admit, I have had images of Dr. King smiling in my heart. So much so, that I even Googled to see what images I could find of him smiling a few days ago, in preparation for todays victory. To my surprise, there were few images of him smiling. Of course, in the sixties, there weren't a lot of things for him to smile about, and even fewer to be happy about....but today?
It would seem so fitting to pronounce this day, Dr. Martin Luther King Day, but one thing outweighs that.....this day will be remembered as Barack Hussein Obama's Day. He earned it. He spent most of his adult life earning it! And today is payday!
God bless you Barack, and God bless Dr. King. Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty, we're free at last!
