How are you volunteering today?

I'm a "runner" today. I expect to be driving back and forth among a few precincts the campaign is worried about, distributing some snack sacks and maybe helping a few people get to the polls. We're meeting at 6:30 (Eastern) to start the fun.

(edit: This should keep me from driving myself crazy waiting for returns. It's gonna keep me off DU for quite a while.)

6. That's curious. We were told that we're not using runners.

He said that someone will use the cell phone to report voters, from outside the polling place. So the list will be updated constantly and about every half hour.

14. The lines were so short at my assigned precinct...

...that I could only keep track from inside. I was eventually asked to leave by the supervisor there.

Several of us met the same fates elsewhere. So I went and phone-banked.

You phone-bankers are aware of the abbreviated and repetitive strategy in use today. I had mostly disconnected numbers or endless rings. Nothing but successes from the people I actually got to talk to--even the lady who was openly hostile and hung up on me said she was "absolutely" an Obama supporter. :rofl:

etc., in case someone shows up with Obama stuff on.

11. I'm doing video the vote for People for the American Way and PBS

I will be out there with my camera documenting any issues that happen in my area, reporting on lines and doing exit polls about the experience in the polls, waiting in line, etc.

I will also be doing poll counting for the Kerry and Obama campaigns too.
