Chuck Todd Just Said Something That Will Make Republicans Curl Up In The Fetal Position
He said in 2012 the newest swing state could be.....

Texas.

due to hispanic voters and the way the GOP has basically brushed them off.

Think about that.

12. That was written by Marty Robbins as his wife drove the family car into El Paso, on a trip.
I saw his son talking about the time. He was a boy, and they were driving from Texas to points west. His mother was driving, and his dad sat there in the car and wrote the song as they drove through the city.

Marty Robbins is an old fav of mine. He is one of those guys who helped define those early years when Rock and Roll grew out of Rockabilly.

10. just some basic math here
you take California, Texas and the northeast corridor (including PA) - that's 206 electoral votes by itself.

add all the other Kerry blue states - not counting Ohio, Florida, Iowa and Missouri - you get 282 electoral votes.

17. I was born in Latin America... don't be too happy about the prospects. Right wingers exist
everywhere, religious bigotry exists in all populations, lack of understanding of issues exist in all populations. We cannot ignore these facts. Look at Latin America and what kind of oligarchies have existed there, and the power of religion. Democrats must take care to educate these populations and pay attention to their needs.

22. Todd's wrong. Not until 2016 at the earliest
Saturday 10/25, Maverick County had only turned out 2% in early voting. Maverick County, TX is probably 95% Hispanic. That's the problem. But they won't vote.

Texas could be a swing state this year but the Hispanic vote was so fired up about Hillary, then the Hispanic leaders of the Hillary campaign in Texas copped PUMA attitudes. Block walks in heavily Hispanic areas have virtually no mention of Obama.

Texas will likely loose 1 Hispanic Congressman today because of this.

32. 2004 was the high point for the GOP there.
Now demographic changes and attrition are in our favor. "Old Texas" has a definite shelf life. It's critical to first gain legislative majority in at least one house so that we can force a decent redistricting.

49. "68 percent of the 13.5 million registered voters in Texas will vote"
http://texasweekly.com/node/3321

Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade says 68 percent of the 13.5 million registered voters in Texas will vote. If that prediction holds true, more than nine million Texans will vote in the election.

Andrade's prediction would be an increase from the 56 percent of registered voters who showed up for the 2004 general election. That year, 28.8 percent of Texas voters showed up for early voting. We have numbers from the top 15 counties for this year: 42 percent of their voters showed up early.

43. Not to mention people moved forcefully by KATRINA and the failed economy!
How many people were shipped off to Texas after Katrina never to return to Louisiana?

How many people have been forced to relocate to red states because of the failed economic conditions in some northern blue states?

I have to think there are a WHOLE LOT of them out there and I think this time the GOP may have outsmarted themselves with their screwing around (while they were screwing us!)

48. I agree and it is about time!!!
I am still holding out to see which counties go for Obama tonight! I know most will be in the valley, however I am paying close attention to Harris County (Houston) since I heard from friends and family there that Obama is looking good and he was endorsed by the Houston Chronicle! I am also holding out for my county, Bexar (San Antonio) since we usually vote Dem, however there are many idiots here too. And of course Travis County (Austin) will be blue, YAY Austin!!!

I haven't heard any updates about Dallas. Anyone in Dallas have any predictions there?
