Well i make it my job to vote every year on election day, even those fun off year races for school board. My first election was in 1996, and I can't believe that today topped the first time. First of all, I live in central NJ and have never waited behind more then 1 or 2 people to vote. Today I got to the polls at 5:45 and there were about 125 people ahead of me. The two things that stood out to me today were the amount of parents that took their kids to vote and how happy these kids were, and the amount of minorities at the polls. I am very white, and live in a very white area... however it felt so good to see the the mix of people voting.
I am normally a very nervous person about elections and such, but for the first time walking about of the polling place I smiled and thought to myself we are kicking the bastards out! I have no doubt, forget the polls it will not even be as close as they say. We are going to watch a tidal wave tonight people, a tidal wave of Americans standing up and saying no more! It will not be close enough to steal, they can try changing a few votes it won't matter. The people will speak!
When people look back at the last 8 years, there will be one positive about the bush administration. That is that the evil, law breaking, and the morally bankrupt republican administration has awoken the masses. In 2004, we saw just a taste of it with the Dean campaign, now america is on board! A revolution is about to begin, by the time Obama leaves us in 8 years this will no long be a country run by just white power brokers, it will be run by Americans a nice light brown of all races mixed together.
I know this is a ramble, but my brain is moving 100 MPH.
Oh one more thing, I was on the bus to Manhattan after i vote around 6:45. These busses are normally all packed, today there was seats to be had. I think the driver had it right when he said the rest were still in line to vote.
