Take a look at the email my Dad just sent me - he knows me so well:

Take a deep breath and focus on your work. Zogby was just on CBC and they have it as an 11 point lead for Obama with a 10 point lead in PA and leads over the margin of error in VA, CO, Ohio, and Nevada.

Love ya
Dad

Easy for him to say - he's retired, he can watch TV all day! I'm really trying to work, but it's hard to stay on task. I'm actually physically restless - I keep feeling the need to get up and walk around or stretch or get a drink of water.

I just want to know the results now, dammit!

3. Haven't slept in a week.
At work now, getting nothing done, will probably give up mid-day and go volunteer.

4. Me! Me!
I had to make myself stay in bed until 5am, then hustled to the TV to get a gander at the turnout on the East Coast. It's going to be a long day -- I can hardly wait until the results start coming in!

Your dad sounds like a sweetheart. :)

5. I'm not nervous at all. All the news the past couple of days is very positive.
So no evidence whatsoever of any late surge by McCain. If there is a surge, it's towards Obama.

So unless there is massive vote fraud/theft, Obama is in.

But. like your Dad, I'm retired.

7. I'm not even really nervous about the results, per se...
I believe Obama will win handily, I just want to know for sure. Like, I want to hear Hannity call the election for Barack. I want to fast forward to 8:00 tonight and get right to the celebrating.

9. That is exactly what I am
a basketcase! I'm retired, thank goodness. I'm sitting in front of computer(DU) watching tv at the same time. I can't sit still 5 minutes. Pace, pace. pace. Tonight is going to be so exciting....I just can't wait. :bounce:

Me! I can't focus at all.... keep looking at all the news sites even though I know that nothing will be decided for hours. It's just the sheer power of today that has me scattered.

14. here in the red armpit of Maine, blowback came in advance
I got home from voting yesterday and discovered that somebody opened my pasture gate and left it wide open. Fortunately, both horses stayed in. The old gelding would probably have stayed out of the road, but the filly has no sense of self-preservation whatsoever -- when she panics, she bolts blind.

I'm quite certain it wasn't me forgetting to close it for a couple reasons. 1. I never open it all the way out, even when I'm wheeling some kind of load through. 2. there was no wind to open it all the way out if I'd forgotten to lock it. It would have taken a gale force Alberta Clipper or Arctic Express to have opened it the way I found it. 3. When I came in from morning barn yesterday I had 2 plastic bags with me -- I distinctly remember having a hard time locking the gate because a bag stuck in it the 1st time. I set them on the ground to get them away and free both my hands.

I will be keeping the gate padlocked from here on. Royal pain, and near impossible once the ice and snow are here, but too risky not to. If it's feasible, I may also put in a videocam for when I'm not home.

So I'm a wreck. I think no matter what happens, whether the rethug freeper morans are celebrating or in revolt, there could be trouble here.

20. Relative calm before the storm.
I'm off for a few weeks, and having a bunch of people over tonight. So right now I'm drinking my coffee trying to get motivated to get up and start cleaning.

I have an amazing headache. The stress has been immeasurable. I want it called so my friends and I can just enjoy and collapse.

When it's over, I think I am going to lay on the floor twitching for like two days time.
