Joe Scab history - wow, I just found out!
I've been lurking here for awhile, and kept seeing the references to Joe "Dead Intern" Scarborough. So, after a few googled articles, I have only one question - how in the hell did he get hired by MSNBC?

1. The same way James Worthy and Michael Irvin get hired by sports networks.
Boys will be boys.

2. It should have been in the stuff you Googled...he was a BushCo toady.
He was an up-and-comer in the Bush administration. They helped him wriggle out of his intern problem, but since he was no longer viable on the inside they made sure he got to be a mouthpiece for them on defense contractor GE's MSNBC outlet. It's the only reason he's there. He's a loyalist, and for good reason. They kept his sorry ass out of jail.

3. Since Bush is so reviled now, why do they keep him on?

6. Think how bad it would be for Bush if they allowed actual journalists on the air
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 10:26 AM by Atman
The GOP was very good at working with GE to get friendly faces on air. They created Fox out of thin air, and made sure they had friendlies on the inside of the other news outlets. Imagine what would have happened to Bush if they had actual investigative journalists on instead of Joe?

4. The "liberal biased" media were reporting on Dem Gary Condit and Chandra Levy while Joe Scab...
...was feverishly covering up the "dead intern" story. Not a squeak on ANY channel. Then again, Countdown with Keith Olbermann wasn't on yet, only Mega-Mouth Matthews.

I hated Joe Scab the moment he stood up in the Florida Legislature poised to hand Bush their (then) 25 EVs as he looked highly annoyed and with red-face at the Democrats there pleading they not go nuclear on them and instead, to allow the recount to continue.

If ever I've seen raw hatred in public by a public figure, it was on Scabbie's pinched-eyed face that was as red as a boiled lobster.

He's such an asswipe.

5. I have this sneaking feeling that
a lot of dirt is going to crawl back out from under the carpet. With a Dem majority in Congress, the pukes can't suppress or stall investigations like they've done the last 16ish years. The lid's coming off and that's why they're crapping up their backs about a Dem majority. Not even having Pelosi in the way will help them any more.

7. And GE-TV continued to employ him even after he threatened to backhand Mika on live TeeVee.
Go figure.

8. While I dislike Joe S., I don't consider the intern story a story.
Until my own brother in law, with no previous health issues, "died" at work, at 40, and hit his head on the copy machine on the way down. Luckily, someone heard him hit the thing, and ran in there... his coworkers were able to revive him enough for the paramedics to bring him back from the dead. He was dead for 7 minutes, and had no one heard him, he would not be here. He had very little damage from the episode, miraculously, and now has a defib transplanted in his chest. So.. until we lived thru that, I never realized how common that can be.. in a young and healthy person. So it's something I don't hold against Joe S. Sometimes a tragedy is just a tragedy.

Other than that, I hate Joe's politics.
