sorry guys, my good samaritan wife drove a neighbor to the polls
someone who's kids play with our kid and who know we are Obama supporters, and heck, we have signs up in our yard.
The neighbor asked for a ride to the polls and my wife gleefully agreed. On the way back, the neighbor proudly announces she voted for McCain!

ugh!

oh well, at least my wife did the right thing in helping out a neighbor. I just don't know how I feel about it yet. The neighbor could have driven herself -- my wife thought she wanted to carpool cause we were in sync on our choice.

5. That was a good thing for your wife to do, and neither you nor she should be "sorry"
There are things in life more important than partisan politics. Taking care of other people is one of them.

The neighbor could have driven herself...

Think of the gasoline that was saved by car pooling.

Your wife did the right thing.
Assuming your neighbor is a US citizen that is 18 or older, she has a right to vote just like the rest of us do. Just because she supports a different candidate than we do, we shouldn't begrudge her that right.

No worries! :hi:

15. Your neighbor was not kind to your wife.
She wanted to cancel out your wife's vote in a literal sense and she wanted your wife to know that's what she did. It is the nature of the opposition party.

So, when Obama wins tonight, return the hate with some love. Send a bottle of celebration champaign to your neighbors and let them know you want them to share in our delight.

Your wife totally rocks. I hope she asks for a ride from your neighbor next time.

17. The more people involved
in the process the better. Her vote is important to her, it was her choice and your wife is a good woman. We need more civic responsibility and both your wife and your neighbor are showing the way. God, who would want to live in a world where everyone was and thought exactly alike?

Give your wife a hug, she did a great thing today and the fact that your neighbor felt OK telling her how she voted shows how much respect she has for the two of you.

22. Good deeds multiply
There is something odd about your neighbor "owning up" to voting for the m-word given the known info. It is as if they wanted to get a rise out of a liberal to prove to themselves that EVERYONE is corrupt. Good that the offered bait was not only not taken, but just absorbed! There is love to spare in the new world.

I am satisfied that your wife did the right thing. We who live in neighborhoods don't mind helping out our neighbors.

It is a great day.

26. Yes, You Wife Did The Right Thing
Ask yourself if she really would have refused, had the neighbor announced her intentions up front? Would you have been upset if the neighbor had refused a ride to your wife under similar circumstances?

Finally, will you stop speaking to your neighbor or she to you after today's result?

actually, I consider her a good neighbor, normally.
I don't think this will change anything, I just think its too bad she canceled out my wife's vote.

43. Not a cancellation in my book-- no matter the coincidence
Just think: If your spouse had not stepped up and helped phone calls may have been made, reminders tendered, etc.

In the scheme of things this neighbor was ferried and could offer no one else the same favors. She was hobbled for a time: as far a canceling anyone out, well she would have voted anyway--but with far more dangerous acquaintances!

Good being good!

27. Just keep this in your mind.
There is nothing harder than taking the "love thy enemy" approach. She's your enemy. And Obama IS exemplary. I, however, would like to kick someone's ass after all of what has happened. But I won't. I'm nice.

31. My oldest son refused to drive me.
I have no car, I walked, he's a freeper lunatic and knows my views.

Your wife's kindness and my son's refusal are what I see as the core differences between the two parties and why I vote a straight Democratic line.
