How Long Did It Take You To Hit The "Cast Ballot" Button?
Whew! That was a long pause. First, I wanted to absolutely sure, 100% certain, and then there was the savoring of the moment, back to wanting to make sure that the check mark said "Barack Obama".

As I was waiting my turn, I saw several of those who voted ahead of me exhale sharply as they were leaving the voting area. A sigh of relief that let everybody know who they voted for.

A couple of laughs in the line before voting, like one woman became perturbed that she didn't know anything about the local issues on the ballot so she asked the man standing in front of her. He loudly proclaimed that to be honest, the only thing he knew about was the big one, to which I heartily replied, "that's right, we are going to make sure of that one".

1. I took about a minute to make sure the Diebold machine had x's by each Democrat.
What goes on inside the machine is beyond my control.

2. I took a moment to hit that button.
I stared at the little green "X" next to Obama/Biden and allowed the hope and the history to wash over me. It felt great! :bounce:

3. I checked, double-checked, and checked again.
I wanted to make sure I had filled in the correct box (paper ballot).

4. I did that, too!
After I finished marking my ballot, I went back and checked it over again, then went back and looked at my mark next to Obama, ran my finger over it and smiled. Just savoring the moment.

5. I held up the line a bit just to savor the moment
I felt a bit guilty seeing the people lined up after me to use the machine but I wanted to make sure everything was good before I pulled the final lever. And yeah, NY is still old school voting machines so no touch screens or any of the newfangled BS.

6. I double-checked, checked again, printed and checked THAT, and then pressed "Cast."
With Diebold, I thought it appropriate to make sure it hadn't flipped it on me.

7. On my paper ballot? I kissed the Obama Biden sign outside the polling place, though.

8. I double checked everything, quadruple checked three:
Obama-Biden
and
for Senate
Mark Udall
Ballot Initiative 48 (define life at conception--essentially will lead to eventual outlaw of abortion, birth control and other heinous outcomes)

But this was a replacement mail-in ballot that I stood in line for, filled out in person and hand delivered.... The instructions with mail in ballot were somewhat onerous, so I had to double check it almost as long as I did the ballot.

9. My wife took an awful long time and when she finally came out

10. Here in Florida we have paper ballots and we fill in ovals, like a high school test....
I spent five minutes filling in my Obama oval. Then filling it in again. Then again. Then again. Then outlining it. Then drawing an arrow from it to the name. lol

12. I checked a few times
to make sure that the "X"s were all in the right place. Practically OCD-like. The I pushed the Vote button and was relieved. I have never been so tense voting.
