I had to vote PROVISIONALLY. They claimed...
They claimed I requested an absentee ballot. Of course I did no such thing.

So I voted provisionally - what choice did I have? It was that or nothing.

I called the number for the Maryland State BOE when I got home. After telling them what happened, they said "Ohhh, you shouldn't have voted provisionally". Great. Then they said they'd transfer me to the state boe (ummm... didn't I just call the state boe?)

I could only leave voice mail at the 2nd number for the Maryland State BOE.

I'm so pissed.

1. You call FIRST, BEFORE you leave the polling place or accept a placebo ballot.
How many times does Thom Hartman have to tell you this before you get it?

2. Don't know if it will help at this point, but
you might try this link http://www.fightthesmears.com on Obama's site. Also, you can report various problems, including voting issues I believe, at this email watchdog@barackobama.com address. Best of luck.

5. I reported it to ACLU / TrueVoteMD.
They said my vote will count as long as I did not turn in an absentee ballot.

6. I love small towns
In my small town - maybe 1500 registered voters - even if you've requested an absentee ballot, you can vote in person. What happens, I think, is that twice during the day clerks check to see if there is a vote in person for someone who had requested and/or submitted an absentee ballot. If so, then the absentee ballot is discarded. There are a few moore fine points in this plan, but the gist of it is that every effort is made to ensure that one vote has been cast by everyone who wants to vote. I know this can get a bit messy in large voting locations, but that shouldn't really matter. It may take longer, but, of course, everyone's vote should count, and my town/state makes sure that happens.

10. I live in Los Angeles
The same thing happened to me in the primaries. My voting location said they sent me an absentee ballot (that I never rec'd) and I ended up having to fill out a provisional ballot.

I was talking to a (Repub) co-worker and they said the same thing happened to them this morning here in Los Angeles..
