Today was my daughter's first election. Her dad waited until today to vote although I voted last week.
It was a family affair. There was no way I was going to stay home. It's cold and rainy today and I am in pain but I was not about to miss this milestone. We didn't know if there would be long lines or not but we were going to wait for as long as it took. There was a line and it was amazing. Usually the polling place is not busy, at all. Today one of the poll workers told me there were 42 people waiting for her and there has been a steady stream of people all day.
I told her my daughter was a first time voter and much to my surprise she announced it. My daughter was cheered and applauded. She was the 10th first time voter this morning. They even let me take a picture of her standing by the voting booth. All of the poll workers thanked her and I was tearing up.
