My voting experience. No lines, noone else was even voting when I voted, at lunchtime.
There were tumbleweeds blowing through the polling place, and undisturbed stacks of "I Voted" stickers lying just beyond the fingertips of yawning pollworkers.

Did I mention that I live in an ultra-Republican precinct with barely a measurable Democratic presence?

1. Really? In Austin?
I didn't know such a precinct existed!

12. Northwest. It's the Dallas Wannabe region. (no offense to Dallas).
Actually, it's mixed and still very Austin, but it's the region that DeLay bundled with north Houston to craft another conservative district. Our Congresscritter is a particularly vile, though fortunately a particularly ungifted, legislator.

13. Wait, like the Arboretum area Northwest?
Help a sister out here!

I didn't know we had a "Dallas wannabe" area of town! I need to avoid it.

Oh and are you going to the Driskill tonight?

14. Yeah, that area.
I've been trying to figure out where to go tonight. Last election I was connected, but this time I don't where to go. What's at the Driskill? Is it an open event?

2. I had a similar experience

I live in a quite red precinct in suburban Pittsburgh.

I arrived at 7:55am (the polls opened at 7:00am).... there was a line of about 8 people. Took me 10 minutes.

Frankly, it was heavier in 2004. I'm guessing the GOP GOTV operation is not as strong this time.

3. This is nice

But my mother in a very conservative part of Virginia reported massive turnout. I was a bit disapointed in hearing this, but they were packed she told me...and she's not shrewd enough politically to 'lie' to me making me think her side is turning out en masse.

5. I've driven by my polling spot twice today and the church parking lot was NOT very full.
I early voted. I also live in an area that isn't exactly a Dem stronghold.

8. Same here in VA Beach..
walked right into my voting place (a Unitarian Church) and was the only one on line with no one else in sight. I asked for a demonstration on our Diebold TSX machine (which I hate), went into the area where the machines were and voted right away. I was really surprised, as I went a little after noon, when I thought there would be long lines due to lunch hour. That was the fastest voting experience I have ever had in over 30 years of voting. I just hope that my vote counts, cause I want Virginia to go BLUE!!!!!!!!!

10. excellent.
My experience was similar in my county, the reddest county in Wisconsin. We are actually the #1 county in the nation, being a fairly well-populated suburban county in the greater Milwaukee area, with the highest number of Republicans,.

A steady stream of voters but no lines, no clogged parking lot, and there were plenty of cookies left when I was there at mid-morning. :)
