What is your celebratory drink of choice?
It's a bit after 10am here on the West Coast and I just poured a shot of Sambuca. It's very festive if you like anise (black licorice) flavor.

I won't drink much. Just enough to take the edge off my nerves.

11. The "Obamarama." It's being served at my daughter's election night party tonite along with
Baked Alaska!

OBAMARAMA COCKTAIL

2 oz. Crater Lake Vodka (hand-crafted American vodka from Oregon) WHY? Because he loves America
2 oz. freshly pressed grape juice WHY? Because he’s fresh!

1/2 oz. Cointreau WHY? Because he has a sweet side

1/2 oz. freshly pressed lemon juice WHY? Because he HAS to win Florida

Just a whisper of curacao to make the drink the color of green
WHY? because he is serious about the environment

Drink is served up in a sugared martini glass garnished with a frozen sugar-grape on an American flag hand-decorated by the owner with glitter bling

Awful that we can't watch the returns come in together. Who is dumb enough to schedule a stupid conference over a frigging PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION?

I'm pissed. I thought about going with vodka, buy am afraid that might get carried away, given the stress of the evening. Plus, I have to work tomorrow - unexpectedly (I took the day off months ago; found out at noon that I have to go in to put a report together on the election).

So I just have a nice chianti I picked out, and will probably make myself some kind of pasta dinner. Unless I get in the mood to have it with fava beans and some Republican's liver.

74. We bought a French wine this morning - a Lezongars bourdeaux.
Mr. LIW and I stopped for a quick lunch today at our favorite French wine shop. The proprietor, a longtime acquaintance of ours, said in his lovely French accent, "Do you think it will be Obama?" (and oh, how melodious his voice made Obama sound!), and we answered that we hoped so.

We asked his advice for a celebratory wine - in the strong hopes that we will be celebrating - and he recommended this bourdeaux.

This man is a French national, and he said, "All of Europe, all of France, we believe, we hope, that it will be Obama."
