My Bestest Gal Pal ~~ age 58 years ~~ cast her first vote EVER this AM for Obama-Biden!
She was soooooooo excited that at 7:00 AM she emailed me to let me know she was all set to go and vote and she was on her way to our polling place. This is a person who NEVER until Barack had EVER been registered to vote...and she was raised by Pubbie parents.

I saw her email after she has gone to vote and come back home and I called her to ask about her experience. She told me that there was a line and those standing in line said that usually there was NO wait at this voting place. My friend said she had no clue on this because this was her first time voting ever...and she was voting now because she had found someone worthwhile to vote for.

THE CROWD OF PEOPLE AROUND HER BROKE OUT IN CHEERS FOR HER!!!!

When she told me about the cheers for her, the tears started running down my face. Her voice ~~ just amazing! Like she had just won the election herself.

She then told me that at our polling place ~~ I voted early by mail so I was not there this AM with her ~~ was crowded and the "regulars" told her it was NEVER like this before. My pal told me that there were a lot of AAs and younger people of all colors who looked like students who were standing in line and waiting to vote. She also said that she was kind of scared ~~ that she had never done this before ~~ and asked for help to make sure she was doing everything right to make her vote count...and get this: She took out her materials she had gotten from an Obama website about the different measures in our area and voted that way AND....she voted a straight Dem ticket!!!

I am sitting here crying and I have goose bumps over this! When I met her about 4 years ago, she has less than -0- interest in politics and now look at her go!

Here is to you, My Friend!

7. Actually, how this happened was that we were both watched trials on Court TV...
...now TRU...and I am an attorney and she would ask a ton of questions about legal issues the cases that were on. Sooooo...she first got interested in the finer points of legal things. Then the US Atty firing scandal came out and this just caught her interest like crazy. She would watch the CSpan hearings on this and then other CSpan Congressional hearing...and from there, politics and Obama were the next thing! It was amazing to watch her interest grow!

In a nutshell...that is kind of what happened...and I had a bit to do with it, but not that much. It most likely was her high level of intelligence and curiosity that got her interested in public matters and that just lead into politics.

:hi:

10. Thanks for that! I wish your Scottie could vote, too! But you're in CA...
and they don't allow Scotties to vote there, yet!

11. So true, but Miss Maggie has been working on this!
Let's face it: She is a ton smarter than any McCain voter! :hi:
