Smell that STINK? Phony Flier culprit found, ID undisclosed, no charges

VA. State Board of Elections calls it a "joke". WTF???? This must be someone well-connected (or the sons/daughters of), someone whom the powers-that-be are protecting. This is an OUTRAGE. This incident has been widely-publicized, and not prosecuting those responsible only invites more of the same.

State elections officials have identified the person responsible for a phony election flier that told Republicans to vote on Tuesday and Democrats to vote a day later.

State Board of Elections Secretary Nancy Rodrigues said Monday the flier bearing the Virginia seal and the elections board logo was a joke that got out of control. The flier was distributed early last week across Hampton Roads. State police confirmed it also was distributed by e-mail.

State officials declined to name the person who created the flier or a second person who began distributing it.

While distribution of false information to voters is a misdemeanor, state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says no charges would be filed.

The Virginia Pilot reports today that a phony Virginia Board of Elections flier is being distributed in Hamption Roads, VA telling Democrats that they are now scheduled to vote on November 5. The flier falsely claims that “an emergency session of the General Assembly” adopted a new voting schedule to “ease the load” at polling places on election day:

As the Pilot explains, “no emergency action has been take by the General Assembly, which isn’t in session, and furthermore, doesn’t have the authority to change the date of a federal election.” Along with the rest of the nation, Virginians in all parties vote on November 4.

2. The two punks who hung the Obama effigy on UK's campus are in some
serious shit over it...the most serious part being breaking and entering.
Still, this incident in Virginia strikes me as a far more serious crime. At a bare minimum, this person has to be in trouble for counterfeiting the state seal.

4. I just sent this to the Rachel Maddow show

As she was just calling out for the prosecution of people who attempt voter suppression, I think we'll be seeing this on her show in the next night or so.

Thanks for posting!

8. We need stronger laws on the books, stronger penalties for this
People should fear to try to take another person's vote away more than their property.
Steal a car radio and you're going to do time in prison.
Steal their vote, and what happens?

"A Joke?"

Oh, so that's how to get out of breaking the law, just say it was "a joke." I'll have to remember that.
