Thank you DU - for keeping me sane during the 8 years of the national nightmare.
We have gone through the '02 elections with the hopes of grabbing the lead - we started the shift there - thanks to a man from Vermont by the name of Jim Jeffords who defected the Republicans and gave control temporarily to the Democratic Party. We have since lost this man due to retirement (and replaced by a wonderful man by the name of Bernie Sanders).

In 2004, when we had to go through the pain of Dean losing the primaries and got stuck with Kerry (I voted for him - no other choice), we still had taken tiny control of the House, but had a very tight Senate (in fact, I think it was 50-50 at one point), and a unelected Chimp (thanks to the Ohio sheningans which Kerry didn't even challenge). A very brave woman by the name of Barbara Boxer did it for us. challenging the Senate and urging to challenge the election results. No-one stood up. But, we did send her big shitloads of flowers from right here in DU to acknowledge her bravery and balls that no-one had.

Thanks to Dean's election as a Chairman of the Democratic Party, we were on a better footing. In 2006, we elected more Democratic Senators and House to strengthen the House and keep the Senate in our control.

Come 2007, we had Edwards, Biden, Clinton, Obama, Kucinich, and Richardson to choose from among other choices. I was originally an Edwards supporter, and was crushed when he dropped out, and then switched to Obama after a few day's research. I was glad to hear that I made the right decision when Edwards revealed his affair, which would have rocked the Democratic Party, but since he dropped out, it didn't impact the Party one bit. In fact, my support during the primaries were unwavering and I have donated $100 to Obama (all I can afford). I am pleased that despite the long primary, and since Wisconsin, it was Obama all the way.

Now, we're on the edge of making major history tonight - a first for all of us, and first for most of you who have been through thick and thin. We've gone through the shit, and have fully vetted President-about-to-be-designated-as-Elect as well as Biden who will be a superb VP for Obama - at first I was hoping he'd pick Richardson, but alas, Biden is a good choice - also fully vetted.

Let's hope this is the beginning of the end of the fundy/loony control of the Republican Party - once we show that the Democratic Party *DOES* help these idiots and they're benefitting from the complete Democratic control since FDR. Hopefully tonight we'll obtain enough Senators to guarantee a full filibuster-proof majority so we can past MUCH needed laws to help the economy, environment, children, jobs, and ceasing the useless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hope they will begin impeachment proceedings against Chimp, nullify all of his pardons, and seize all assets associated with Chimp and Deadeye Dick.

Thank you DU, for being there for me, and keeping me sane.
