The turnout for this particular election could be described as a landslide...nay, avalanche...no matter who takes the prize ;).

We've had the opportunity for early voting in my neck of the woods (as well as a comparatively low population), so the lines shouldn't be as long as those states that didn't allow early voting.
Still, polling places open from 7A to 8P makes for a very long day.

The volunteers who staff the polling places don't get enough credit, IMHO...so before collecting my I Voted sticker I stopped at The Store Which Must Not Be Named.

After deliberation and consultation with the nice lady at the deli counter, I came away with two and a quarter pounds of chicken tenders (fried breast strips)...then collected a case containing 1 dozen bottles of water and a jug of apple juice. Figured with the two bags of Hershey's Kisses I'd scored early on November 1st, this should be enough...

There was ONE voter exiting my polling place, but eight cheerful pollsters, ready and waiting to help to me vote if I needed assistance. O8)
I dropped off the munchies, thanked them for the time and effort they put in,
voted for Barack Obama and Joe (the) Biden,
and then collected my I Voted sticker.

They thanked me for treating them...and I kicked meself on the way home because only then did it occur to me that it was 'two-fer' day at one of the pizza places.
I coulda gotten them pizza instead...:banghead:
Oh well...next time.
