Oh Crap, I've been thrilled and excited all day and now...
I'm getting e-mails from Move-On telling me people that they need to turn out haven't voted and Ambinder just threw up two Obama e-mails to supporters saying that they need volunteers and people making calls because the vote is closer than predicted.

My normal, rational brain would interpret this as a tactic to drive numbers even higher.

My election day, freakout, what's-left-of-it brain is not in panic mode.

<cough> Please talk me down. <cough>

1. Jeff, are you in Texas?
Are you saying that the Obama campaign is saying that it's close in Texas????

I hope that's what you are saying! :)

2. The things I mentioned were talking about other states...
One is MN:

A reader writes:

I'm a student at Carleton College who has contributed (financially and with my time) to the Obama campaign. I just got an automated call from Jeff Blodgett, the chair of the MN campaign. The text of the call was:

"Hello, this is Jeff Blodgett from the Minnesota for Obama campaign. Our initial data shows this election is significantly closer than the polls predicted. We are putting out an urgent call for volunteers... We are organized groups to knock on doors at five P.M., or earlier if you can, for our final GOTV operation." This was followed by different numbers to call based on your residence.

4. Our little precinct in Minnesota had 290 voters when I voted at 4 pm.
Not many but a lot for this precinct.

3. MoveOn has been sending out "the polls are closing" for a week
It's just a well-intended if unfortunate GOTV effort.
