Some good news and Some bad news in New Castle PA
The good news is my wife's mother decided to actually vote.

She still is apprehensive of Obama but she went and voted for him. She was determined not to vote at all this election. And my wife spoke to her yesterday making her aware of the fact that she and I would be voting Obama. My wife also said to her mother: "You don't have to answer this for me just answer to yourself. IF half of what Obama planed to do as President was going to be done by a "White" candidate how fast would you be voting?"

My mother in law sits with her friend's mother during the day. Poor woman is suffering from Alzheimer's and well the woman came back from voting and as my mother-in-law said "started yapping at her to go". Anyways she voted.

Now the bad news. My mother-in-laws friend said that there was a long line AND names had been removed from the voting rolls.

4. New Castle is the county seat of Lawrence County on the Ohio line.
The results are usually evenly split in the presidential contests. The county, like most in PA, uses electronic machines which produce no paper trail. About two months ago, I checked with the Voter Registration office to confirm that I was still on its rolls.

8. From a neighboring town.
I had lunch in a restaurant in New Castle yesterday. I overheard a teenager talking; maybe it was a non-school day, and it seemed as though he was employed there, maybe as a dishwasher. I heard him say some untrue things about Obama. He also expressed some nasty opinions and used an invective that I want to forget. There are some serious right-wing cretins in this area. Also, there are a lot of McCain/Palin signs in the townships.
