55. Obama will win Vigo County, Indiana! |
|
Someone please make this it’s own thread… I’m too new!
Obama wins in Vigo County, Indiana!
With 81% of the vote in, Barack Obama will win Vigo County, 57%-42%
Vigo County has not failed to vote for the eventual presidential winner since 1952, when Illinois Sen. Adlai Stevenson won a narrow victory here over Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The county has only missed twice in the last 100+ years.

the places to watch in Indiana are
Indianapolis area (Marion Co.) Bloomington/Monroe Co. South Bend/St. Joseph's Gary (Lake Co) maybe Jack'sSmirking knows more about Vigo/Terra Haute area.
All of these are either college towns or are Chicagoland, or the cap. city. but the rest of Indiana has more corn than people.

is, surprise, old white protestant guys (of various education levels) who think the national economy is good.
...yet the split is close enough for some other demographics that McCain is in the race. Local NBC said to expect Indiana's numbers will not come in until LATE.
Lake County/Acorn have already been mentioned but a deputy noted that no Acorn ballots that were questioned were registered to vote - the system did what it was supposed to do.
Lake County is also the most populous area, so it will not have numbers till later. This leads to snark from some repubs b/c they think Lake Co. is Chicago corrupt.
Only 4% of the vote, but would like to note that Monroe Co. is, so far, 75% for Obama. I hope it is a smack down, at least here.
