OK, my voting experience.
We vote in a small rural precinct.
Coastal Alabama.
It's at a community center.
100+ year old white clapboard building.
The county votes 75% repug, 25% Dem.
Pretty much always.
Reddest county in a very red state.
:-(

This morning at 11:30 there were more cars in the grass surrounding the building than I have ever seen before.
And not just on voting days.
There are many events held there throughout the year.
And I've never seen this many cars before.

There were only a couple of folks in line (inside the building) in front of Miz t., me, and a Dem friend who came with us.
The lady who checked our IDs and handed us the ballots said "I've never seen anything like this. We've been straight out all day."

Voting took about a minute.
Filled in one arrow for straight Dem ticket.
Then voted for 6 state/county/city referendums.

Note: There was NO Dem opponent to our repug congressman, Jo Bonner.
There were NO Dem opponents for ANY county or local offices.
Judges, board of education, etc.
NONE.

We've formed a local Democratic organization and worked for over 4 years.
We're growing in numbers.
But, DAMN, it's discouraging when you're written off by state and national party.

As we were about to leave the parking area, a lady in a small station wagon pulled in next to us.
In one of the rear seat windows was a hand lettered sign.
"OBAMA AND BIDEN!"
And a hand drawn Obama 'O' logo.

I waited until she got out of her car.
She was an attractive middle aged blond.
I said "I just had to see who you were." and gave her a .

She smiled.
I said "At least there are 4 of us here."
She said "I sure hope there are more than that."
Yeah, me too.
:-(
