Don't they typically favor the conservative, because all the smaller, rural precincts report first? Later, the larger, more urban areas, who have way more votes to count come in, and we see a sway?
I know in 2006, all of the early returns in CA looked like the conservative movement was taking over the state by a huge margin.
Later in the night, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Alameda counties rolled in, and just flipped the whole thing around - all the results came in in favor of liberal ideals! :-) All the conservative leaning measures on the ballot were defeated.
Is this typical elsewhere?
