I think both will snap back to where we're expecting them as more numbers come in. |

8. yep - if you look at the county maps, rural VA counties - cities are separate |
|
in Virginia so they are not part of the county counts either.

There's still a bunch of Obama votes coming in from VA. And NC is barely done at all.

11. Anyone freaking out go watch John King and his comparison maps |
|
We're doing great! He's comparing McCains "wins" on conservative counties to Bush in 2004 and McCain is underperforming, or Obama is doing better than Kerry! Speaks volumes. Relax! This isnt even taking into account the blue counties.

12. No way. VA is breaking big. |
|
Look at this magic number: In Alexandria, VA, only 4% of its precincts have reported. So far it's 74% to 45% for Obama.
No major urban center has reported fully yet. It's gonna be a massive swing.

15. Problem is Obama is underperforming in some south Virginia counties |
|
compared to Kerry, sometimes significantly. The appalachian counties.
Don't know whether Norhern Virginia will be enough to close the gap. I don't get it.

16. Situational variables |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 08:29 PM by Awsi Dooger
Virginia -- Democratic counties report late
North Carolina -- Obama's huge lead from early voting appearing immediately as the precincts report
Normalcy will prevail. We'll win Virginia and likely hold on in North Carolina, but the margins will be going in opposite directions, in Obama's favor in Virginia and in McCain's direction in North Carolina.
Obama is under performing in relation to Hagan. That's one way to look at the numbers and realize North Carolina will tighten. He's several points behind Hagan's margin.
