Dammit. McConnell is projected as the winner in KY on CNN. |
|
60 might be out of range, but I'll settle for 58 or 59. :)

3. Not that there's a 'bright side' to having less than 60 in the Senate |
|
but now there's absolutely no reason to smooch Lieberman's wrinkled rump in order to keep a supermajority, and it's increasingly likely that he'll be stripped of his committee leadership positions.

CNN is being pretty cautious, though, so I suspect that they're right.

5. McConnel just got 51% so far. |
|
That was enough to humiliate him. Lunsford gave it a real good shot.
Take heart, Lizzy Dole will be between jobs come January.

7. Even if we dont end up with 60 from the election |
|
........theres a good chance that some moderate Republican Senators can see the writing on the wall and pull a Lieberman on the GOP.
The GOP base will be looking to purge what they call RINO's, and there are probably close to a dozen in their crosshairs.

8. A slightly different take on the same thought.... |
|
A lot of moderate Republicans will also realize that if they want to stay in office in '10 and '12, their constituents are going to expect them to get something done, so they may vote with the Dems on a lot of stuff.
