6. It's gonna take more than a speech ...

The hatred he stirred up was reflected in that "boo." He ignored it. He should have condemned it.

13. He did, much as Al Gore did when his people booed in 2000
McCain kept holding up his hand--a silent request for them to STFU with the booing.

Even if it is only words, I think this is the best speech McCain has given. If he'd been this way all along, he might have been the winner.

22. Oh, it's a good speech ...
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 11:28 PM by RoyGBiv
But, it's hollow. He can't go from putting his stamp on the vile, racist crap vomited from his campaign for the last month with one speech.

And it's not the booing. That I expected. It's what it, in this specific case, represents.

But I won't argue the point today any more than that. I'm too freakin' pumped up and thankful. :)

12. I think he just told off the bigots earlier.
Probably happy to be done with the lot. Even though he didn't seem to mind their support earlier.

I really think it came down to a choice between fear and ... hope.

21. Political Survival First - not country
He'll be running from the Repubs (again) every chance he gets from here on out. They made him become one of theirs with the carrot-on-a-stick opportunity he always desired - and would do ANYTHING to get.

Now that's it's over, watch how quick he snaps back to his old (sometimes favorable) self. He was always misaligned with the miscreants in his party - but you sleep with dogs, you'll probably get fleas.
