I have a reservation at the Four Seasons and put a request with the concierge to locate a pair for us. You could get standing area tickets for several hundred and VIP seating for several thousand. I'm not aware of a cheaper option.

Some hotels like the Four Seasons and the Mandarin Oriental will have packages however they will be pricey, starting at about $20,000 up to $200,000+, and will usually come with tickets to the inauguration and an inaugural ball.

10. Ooooh, ok, that's a little out of my price range....
I used to live in the DC area, so we're looking at VA or MD hotels instead - the public transportation is awesome and cabs aren't that expensive there. I used to live in VA 10 minutes outside of DC - it's almost easier sometimes to get around from outside the city, if that makes any sense.

This is going to be my first time attending an inaugural so I'm also in the dark as to what to expect.

11. My daughter got an invitation to attend as a People-to-People
student ambassador. She didn't want to go. Unfortunately, the invitation was NOT transferrable.
