Official John Kerry thank you thread
Thanks to John Kerry, the nation was introduced to Barack Obama as a national figure.

Thanks to John Kerry, Obama got an early endorsement from a key national Democratic figure to give him a valuable boost in the primaries.

Thanks to John Kerry, Obama could tap into a large online supporter and donor network.

Thanks to John Kerry, www.truthfightsback.com helped to ensure that the lying RW smears would be answered decisively and forcefully as soon as they hit the airwaves.

Thanks to John Kerry, who ran an honorable race against a dishonorable foe and lost with dignity - and who held the gate wide open for Barack Obama to walk through to become our 44th President in a massive landslide victory.

Thank you, John Kerry - a true American hero.

31. good analogy!
His role has been, it seems, to prepare the country, to set the stage.
An honorable man, with integrity and courage: he has my admiration and respect forever.
It was a pleasure to vote for his re-election.
May he continue to help us move our country forward.

7. A great man, able to recognise his own errors of judgment and learn from them
...how sad it still is that he was branded a "flip-flopper" for that very positive human trait.

He should've been successfully defending the White House tonight...but all-told, I'm *pretty* fucking delighted with what has actually transpired here and now. :)

10. The real reason why I am proud of Kerry is that he had a truly American PLATFORM
the platform and issues that Kerry ran with (and that Obama did as well) were inclusive and just flat-out BETTER than anything the rethugs could offer.

The media wall of protection around Bush had to come down some more before the language could even be heard.

38. You are right. His positions have become the positions of the Dem party on Iraq, environment,
credit and mortgage crisis concerns (he flagged that issue in 2004 Dem platform), national security and oil independence.

Now I hope we ADD his positions on allowing gays to serve openly in military, and assure ALL children have healthcare as a first giant step to universal healthcare.

But MOST important, I want ALL Democrats to embrace and ADVOCATE for open government accountable to the people every bit as much as Kerry has over the last few decades - Open the BOOKS, Dems.

30. Even the harshest of Kerry critics acknowledge how pivotal the decision
was to select Barack Obama for that keynote address at the 2004 convention. Normally, we think of a presidential candidate's VP pick as being their most important decision. It turns out it was this choice JK made in 2004. And for that, we are all eternally grateful..

56. Thank you, Senator Kerry!
It's really a shame that your time came in 2004, when America was NOT thinking clearly. When America was, understandably, so confused by 40 years of right-wing crazy making that half the time, we didn't know which was was up.

But now, in 2008, we think clearly again. Most importantly, we know that it's all right to think. And you were a key player in making it all right to be intelligent again.

After years of Republican chorus singing that thinking was for losers, you set our values to rights, and you cut through the massive cognitive dissonance we'd all been suffering. You gave us a definition of moral values that's not, "tough luck kid, you're on your own!" but something that actually uplifts us and makes us feel competent, powerful once again to influence our own lives.

Thank you for bringing us back to our better natures again.
