1. I 1/2 want to lose MO so we can stop worrying about it always predicting elections
I like breaking these superstitions...

But I also like winning bigger than ever!

6. Clay county
...is basically the area north of Kansas City proper across the Missouri River. Its got some big freeper strongholds like Liberty and Independence (I think Independence). But, it is still pretty much considered to be a part of the KC Metro area, with suburban leanings. Big time bible thumpers in the northern parts.

I see it breaking either way, I don't know. No idea on past results, I'll give a looksie.

9. Ok, found some info, not looking good, but who knows
In 2004, 96,460 people cast votes for President in Clay county.

Kerry 44,670 (46.3%)
Bush 51,193 (53.1%)

Those folks in Liberty and Independence are scary folks. There are some nascent big-box evangelical churches up there. Not to mention a significant Mormon population in Independence.

Here's a link: http://www.sos.mo.gov/enrweb/countyresults.asp?eid=131&cids=15192&arc=1&cboCounties=15192&submit1.x=27&submit1.y=9">Clay County, Missouri election results, Nov. 2, 2004

I'd forget about Douglas county. Its sticksville, even more so from the county I hail from.

Funny, I lived in KC for 11 years, Clay county for 4.

I wasn't paying attention back then.

7. Here's a pic... look on the west side, north of Jackson County
Jackson is one of the liberal strongholds with the urban voters.
