Just home from massive celebration in Dallas
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 01:53 AM by DeposeTheBoyKing
I am numb. Every time I see the words "President Elect Barack Obama" I start shaking and crying. I swear, if I die tonight I will die an insanely happy woman.

Spent the day as a poll watcher in south Irving. Things went very well. This evening I scarfed down a bowl of cereal before heading to the Bishop Arts District in south Dallas with Mr. DTBK and fellow volunteer Lynn. We stood and watched history unfold on the big screen with thousands of full-throated Obama supporters. We left after McCain's concession speech and heard Barack's masterpiece of a speech on NPR on the way home. I also played Morrissey's "America Is Not The World" in the car. Read these lyrics:

But where the president is never black, female or gay
You've got nothing to say to me
To help me believe

Well, you can believe now, my dearly beloved Morrissey!

I am literally walking into the walls out of sheer shock and joy.

EDIT: Immediately after the election was called for Barack I got an email from Mr. DTBK's nephew in Pakistan congratulating us on our new president. I replied that we are overcome and that he could not possibly imagine how wonderful we feel right now.
