7. I managed to hold it together...
...until this post.

Just to realize the rest of the world's investment in our election - in such a tangible way - made me cry like a baby.

I am so happy right now. I want our nation to shine our light again, and this gives me such amazing hope.

36. So many of us will hold this moment.
Some of my happy tears are for my daughter, who has put her heart and soul into this campaign in several states; and for my son, whose experience, and focused education and ideals will merge with this new leadership's goals that benefit all people.

From this day, all things are possible -- even, perhaps, a cooperative understanding with my ultra-conservative Republican parents and siblings.

Keep the faith, susanna.

45. I am so happy...
...for your daughter and son. Thank them for me!

I am pinching myself tonight. After the last two elections, I find myself questioning whether it's all real.

That said, I know it is. And that is nothing short of amazing.

elections been of such extreme interest to the entire rest of the world. They're as invested in this as we are, huge crowds out in the streets celebrating. Just shows what a relief it is that the Rethugs are no longer in power.

37. Just came back from a party...
Down here, in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). The pub owner had themed it an electoral night so there was quite a few ex-pats along with concerned quebecers/canadians. Me and my gf (a New Yorker) had a blast. Watching the crowd erupt in pure joy when they announced that Obama was the next american President was quite a sight, along the likes I see on your Sydney pict. :)

Very intense night. The future looks more promising than it has been for a couple decades.

Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 06:44 PM by malmapus
To the effect that the feeling of unity she was feeling was like the one after 9/11. Only instead of tragedy bringing everyone together, this time it was hope. I know this time, unlike that time, OUR President won't squander that feeling and will keep hope alive!

Those pictures remind me of the out pouring of love that the world was sending to us after 9/11 that * just squandered to nothing. Feels so good to see that again.
