John Tierney, a versatile writer who often brings a refreshing libertarian tinge to his columns, can now be found every Tuesday on the Science Times page. Today's fitting entry, "Obama and McCain Walk Into a Bar....," posed the question: Who has the better sense of humor, liberals or conservatives? He analyzed a Boston study that presented liberals and conservatives with various jokes, good and bad, from Borscht Belt standbys to Jack Handy surrealism, and came to the surprising (to the researchers, anyway) conclusion that conservatives have a better sense of humor than liberals. Tierney pondered the surprised reaction from researchers...

The future under President Obama. Confetti has now been swept away by illegal migrant cleaners, balloons have deflated faster than the economy, and suicide pills in case the unthinkable happened have been flushed down the toilets by liberals around the country (except for those few who have kept theirs in case America emerges victorious from Iraq). The wheel has turned, history was made, even if not particularly emphatically by historical standards, and the cliché count among the commentating class has surpassed the number of foreclosures in California and Arizona combined. Now is perhaps a good time for several quick predictions...

Let’s be clear. We've observed no comparison between these ground campaigns. To begin with, there’s a 4-1 ratio of offices in most states. We walk into McCain offices to find them closed, empty, one person, two people, sometimes three people making calls. Many times one person is calling while the other small clutch of volunteers are chatting amongst themselves. In one state, McCain’s state field director sat in one of these offices and, sotto voce, complained to us that only one man was making calls while the others were talking to each other about how much they didn't like Obama,...

With the election of Barack Obama almost assured, investors now have to figure out what it means for their individual portfolios. Will the technology sector benefit or suffer with Obama? That's my main concern. It's hard to tell, since Obama has not been specific about the concerns of the tech sector. We do know that Obama will have to push the alternative-energy agenda and the greenhouse-gas/carbon-footprint agenda. He also promised a reduction in dependence on foreign oil. This may mean good news for the semiconductor business, where smarter electronics translate into more energy efficiency. I perpetually like Intel Corp. Corporation...

Barack Obama received more than three-quarters of the Jewish vote, according to exit polling. A preliminary exit poll found Obama receiving 77 percent of the Jewish vote, to just 22 percent for Republican John McCain. That’s more than the 74 percent Democrat John Kerry garnered in 2004, and close to Al Gore’s 79 percent of the Jewish vote eight years ago—when Gore had the first Jewish vice presidential nominee of a major party joining him on the ticket. The Jewish vote was 2 percent of the poll sample. The 77 percent figure is a significant rise from the 60 percent... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So once again...........they’re idiots; voting for someone who embraces those who crave their elimination from the face of the earth.”
Most American Jews I know are agnostics/atheists. Their real religion is socialism, gay rights, abortion, and sticking it to devout Christians. Given that outlook, their voting patterns make sense.
The only upside is that the fraction of Jews who are Orthodox will rise over time, since Orthodox Jews are having the children.
