*****The Official ZOMG Al vs. Norm Thread*****
Al will win, by my estimates, 3600 votes. More than enough to sustain a recount.

St. Louis County is still reporting just 2/3rds of their votes.

Itasca is reporting just 76%.

I'm really, really happy about tonight in general but I DO NOT want Norm the Weasel to retain his employment.

Is Hennepin 100% yet?

And that helps. We will tie the race in Hennepin.

We will win because of St. Louis County.

The manditory recount is probable, but they haven't included the provisionals yet.

87. Mostly blue counties left
It looks like the only red county left is Cass County (small rural area). That last jump for Coleman was probably from Crow Wing county - it just jumped to 100%. Now the big counties left are St. Louis, Itasca and Carlton - all blue!

I'm gonna start chewing on the keyboard soon.

I just wanna say how much I have loved Franken from the very first SNL, even when his bits didn't make me laugh, to his movies that revealed the compassion and insight that inform his point of view, to the books that proved his tenacious, wonky dedication to the truth (with jokes), to his Air America show that was sometimes silly and sometimes dumb but always informative. And I am so proud that he has done so well in his first run for office, and so happy I was able to donate to his cause.

126. why does Google keep showing Franken ahead, but Sec. State shows him behind?
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 04:35 AM by paulkienitz
The Google results are always a few thousand votes ahead of the official secretary of state page ( http://electionresults.sos.state.mn.us/20081104/ElecRslts.asp?M=S&R=all&P=A&Races=%27%27 ), but over a span of time a good deal longer than the gap in how much is counted, one keeps showing Franken ahead and the other shows him behind. What the WTF?

In face, according to that page, Franken is now down by 5880, with only thirty-some thousand votes left to count. That sounds pretty impossible to make up. But google shows Franken up by 379. (As of 3:35 central time.)

All the votes came from red counties. Wright has now reported 100% and Cass is up to 89% from 86%.

That leaves four blue counties still to finish reporting.

Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 06:15 AM by paulkienitz
the S. of S.'s totals have now fallen into line with CNN and Google, vindicating them I guess. Franken is now down by 1978 votes. I would guess the uncounted votes to number somewhere around 11000.

They may have to be digging into provisional ballots.

(edit) woops, one more precinct in, difference is now 1658. If we keep making up 300 per precinct...
