I don't understand. Something must be wrong here. He was losing in polls before he was convicted. Being convicted was supposed to seal the deal and make it not even close. Wtf is going on?

1. Probably. But hasn't Reid said that he won't be allowed
to actually hold his seat if he is elected?

4. Stevens won't hold his seat, but a special election would probably go to the Repuke
If Stevens can win after being convicted, no Democrat can ever win in Alaska.

7. They can name someone to serve for 90 days, I believe,
but there has to be a special election before then.

9. I just can't believe this shit.
I just can't believe it. They would rather have a convicted felon than a democrat?

Why is this so different than the polls?

Have the more liberal areas just not come in yet?

10. If he loses we can get to 60
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 03:30 AM by WallStreetNobody
because we may win Franken and Merkley, putting us at 58 + 2 independents who caucus with us. If we can win Georgia too (which looks like it will go into a run-off election) that's another one as well. Right now in Alaska Steven's is up by 3% with 72% of precincts reported. We can win it, not a great chance but a decent chance.

11. Begich was definitely leading in the polls.
I do not understand this result.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

14. This is the same state that elected Sarah Palin and gave her 80% approval ratings. I'm not surprised

17. Strange place Alaska
I was there this past summer and while I loved its beauty it was unlike any state in the lower 48 I've been to. Honestly, I had to keep reminding myself I was still in the US.

But whatever. There are good Dems there who are probably hurting tonight over Stevens' probable win. If it's any consolation, there's a good chance he'll die in prison.
