I feel as if I have drifted onto the shore

Dragged myself thru the surf,

Onto the beach

Coughed up the water,

Spit it out, onto the sand

Stood up and walked

Straight into the trees

Not knowing what was there

But knowing, nonetheless...

That wherever I was headed

Was a Hell of a lot better

Than where I had been.


Anyway, that's my take on it.

1. No kidding. I am absolutely emotionally exhausted. It was a great night...

I had an impromptu party with half a dozen friends. Both my kids called -- my son in Las Vegas, very laconic, telling me how excited he was, and goodbye now because the speeches are coming on; my daughter yelling like a teenager, not laconic at all, kinda like her mother. Hubby dragged in late after finishing teaching, and all the friends were laughing, talking, carrying on with joy. We popped the cork on the champagne and toasted the end of Bush and the beginning of something wonderful. We sang Happy Days Are Here Again.

After everyone went home we finally caught the rerun of Obama's speech so hubby could watch it, and he cried as much as the rest of us had earlier.
