Unfolded our Flag out of Storage

This morning at our old 200 year old farmhouse along the Penobscot River in Winterport Maine, I unfolded our American Flag from storage. I dusted off the box and gingerly unfolded our flag in tears.

Our home, that has witnessed American History was built in 1803 and has survived war, hardships and depression....
Our homestead that survived British Ships that sailed up the Penobscot River and fired cannon shot over our barn.....
Our home that shone the light in the window for many escaping slaves working their way to Canada from slavery...

Our home has witnessed history and now proudly displays the American Flag once again....

This morning I am proud of our country once again.....and the ghosts of it previous owners are rejoicing this morning.

I feel like I've been let out of bondage. I feel like this heavy thing that's been crushing my chest for years has been lifted off. I feel like the chains that were weighing down my ankles have been cut away and I feel so lightfooted, I want to dance the day away.

So, I do know how you feel.

4. I proudly, and with tears, flew "The Colors " for the first time since 9/11.

Old Glory really is glorious today!

5. Mine is coming out of storage as well. I wasn't going to fly it again

without full restoration of the Constitution, but I feel we may be on our way. I will fly it today.

6. DONE!!!! .....

My mom put ours up last night, I told her not to worry about it and that we'd do it in the morning. But she did it anyway.

When I woke up and saw the sun shining down on it, I knew ..... it WASN'T A DREAM!!!

7. That's very touching!

I packed my flag up after we invaded Iraq. Last night it was unpacked and flew yet again as McCain was giving his concession.
