15. Not really. MN is exactly what I expected.
A huge Obama win, a deadlocked Senate race, and Bachmann handily keeping her seat.

4. When I read that F the South thread, I had to turn the laptop off
Seriously Georgia ain't what it was...

How can you discount the region when you know what kind of shenanigans happened in Republican controlled areas like Ohio 2004 and Florida 2000?

Then to act as if we haven't shown we WON'T turn out and wait in 10 hour lines? What do you think this is?? A U.S. with only 40 to 44 states?

We matter.

Take note.

We do matter.

6. Some parts of the Confederacy will never rejoin the Union.
If anything, last night proved it.

11. We have a sattelite office in NC (Charlotte)
An email was sent around that office two months ago forbidding people to talk about politics because of the fights. But I spoke to one of the true blue this morning and he was on cloud nine that his state came through and also dumped Dole. Congratulations on being part of history.

9. There was literal dancing in the streets in downtown Orlando last night
even the hundreds of cops were smiling and cheering! just because they stole several elections before DOESN'T mean that Florida has a RW majority.

14. Virginia has a young and growing wine industry
The VA wine country is mostly in what are now red counties, but I think that is going to change over the next 8-10 years. A number of the wines from VA are high quality and can easily stand beside wines from Washington and Oregon. Since it was dry there in 2006, that vintage should be very interesting.

The people who are (and will be) working in the VA wine industry will not be "right of center"; As the Joe Six Packs would say "wine? that's for them there librul elitists."

16. There's probably not a state
that hasn't been bashed on DU at some time or another. It's silly.

While there are sections of the country I prefer to others, and while there's a state or two out there that I've been known to say you couldn't pay me to live there, I never post those sentiments here on DU, in part because I know whichever places I dislike the most, there are others who truly love those places and who would never consider living where I do.

even though my home state is still ignorant and redneck. 806,798 of us voted for President Elect Obama and are so PROUD of it.

19. There's dedicated, hard-working, loyal progressives in every state. It ALL has to stop.
We ALL won this. I see from another post there must have been a vile post--I think I'll pass on looking it up.

Today is for fresh air and unity and hope and renewal. WE DID THIS! (Everyone)

21. it never made any sense
to bash the people in the states -- not if you wanted to win, anyway.

I moved to a red southern state and was really moved by the number of people who gave their lives up for this campaign as volunteers! it really pissed me off to read the threads here bashing the south and all of the people who live here, when iin order to make change here, we have to work twice as hard. we're fighting a system that is so old and entrenched and you have to be careful because you think you're helping but you can hurt if you try to change things without sensitivity to the caste system and the ramifications of it.

GA is close and it makes my heart rejoice.

No more bashing the south, and for that matter, instead of bashing things you don't understand, why not try a little effort to grasp the situation before you appoint yourself judge of it? we can accomplish a lot, but we've got to start by not being intolerant and judgmental. Not to say I didn't get frustrated here and don't get frustrated here- I do! But I don't write it off. Change doesn't come from writing something off.
