A huge defeat for Christian Fundamentalism.

which, sadly, is still alive and well in some areas of the nation (Arkansas being a chief example).

I remember the anti-Catholic feeling when Kennedy ran, and how, after his presidency, Catholicism was no longer an issue when it came to running for President. I'm hoping that the same thing will happen with race now.

1. They still came out to vote in droves

2. As someone else pointed out, Prop 8 still won.

The point I think the media lost here is that Obama is seen as a very religious person by many people. That split the conservative religious vote somewhat.

We actually lost seats to the Repukes in the Oklahoma state houses last night. :banghead:

At least the national scene is much brighter. :)
