Did you cry?
I did.

We tortured. We spied on our own citizens. But we turned around and elected the first black president.

I do have hope. And I am proud of my country again.

I feel like my life has not been a waste anymore ...

I am 63 - fought for Civil Rights, Women's rights, ERA, Gay Rights, AntiWar activist (my brother fought in Viet Nam and has not been the same since)... Saw the assassination of JFK, Bobby, Martin and John Lennon - and the pain was indescribable.

Was a union rep for 17 years -in the largest womens union in the world (AFA, etc.

So I liken this victory as a full circle in my life.

I am a PROUD AMERICAN DEMOCRAT living in a red state.

6. I haven't stopped! My kitties keep looking at me
like I'm crazy or something. (Well, that's not so far from the truth!) Also haven't stopped grinning! Just got off the phone with my mother, who said... "And just how happy are YOU today!?" She and my dad are celebrating too!

9. You want to talk crazy?
At 10:50 last night I gathered up my two giant tuxedos so they were sitting next to me when history was made. I wanted to make sure they saw it also.

24. LOL!! Hubby and I had retired to the bedroom to watch
the final results because he had to be up at 4:30am for work, and we don't allow them in our room overnight (they want to play too much for us to get any sleep!). But I will confess that I left the TV on with a timer in the den. They like the sound and the colors. Or so I tell myself!

8. We cried and we laughed
We opened a bottle of champagne and ate chocolate(a horrible combination) and toasted our hope for the future and our new president, our leader, our hero. I wanted the kids to know that this is really special because it's something new and shining, but also because we're finally getting our country back.

15. It is just hitting me now.
I was getting ready to take a shower and had a round of the great, heaving sobs. Happy and tired, but also a release of fear and stress from a hard eight years.

were many moments to cry for last night.

Here, imho, is the most poignant (and gone in the blink of an eye):

ABC News last night was broadcasting from the village in Kenya where Obama's father came from. And the reporter mentioned in passing that the vilagers there were praying . . . NOT FOR AN OBAMA VICTORY BUT SIMPLY FOR A "GOOD ELECTION."

My wife and I immediately began bawling like little babies.

I am going to be a wreck at work today. I think God answered those Kenyans' prayers!

33. Oh yes.
My friend and I cried together, and we jumped around, we laughed, and we DRANK! I watched the election returns at a party, then my friend, a mixed race girl, took me back to her place to watch until the end. I can't think of anyone else I would have wanted to be with.

Ugh, I'm hung over this morning...
