In my past I worked for community organizations (Citizens Action Coalition in Indiana and Illinois Public Action Council in Chicago), worked alongside Acorn organizers back in the 70's at Citizens Action Coalition and was fortunate enough to attend training at The Midwest Academy (Heather Booth's Alinksy-inspired organizing school in Chicago).
The truth is that while community organizing isn't "socialist", it is absolutely dedicated to returning power to the community and the individuals in the community, wherever that may lead. It likely won't lead anywhere good for corporatist and theocratic Republicans...
That we have elected a community organizer as our president is a truly remarkable thing.
