I am sitting here in utter disbelief. Last night at the watch party I attended here in Georgia, we looked disappointingly at the GA totals, not believing that we had come up so short. Well, it ends up we were missing extremely important votes: the early voting which went for Barack Obama. It is probably true that John McCain won the state; but it was just wrong for the networks to call Georgia for him so darn early, before those early votes were counted. Meanwhile, it looks like a run off election in December between Chambliss and Martin is now likely.

Georgia is run by a bunch of corrupt and inept Republicans. I don't think we can trust the integrity of our vote here. And good for the AP for knowing what is what, and not calling a state before all the data has come in.

1. I think they stole votes from Bob Barr.
Look at the totals for down state libertarian candidates. They all got 3-5% of the vote while Barr only got .07%.

7. It's hard to tell. The total figure is now getting closer and it says
100% in:

http://www.sos.georgia.gov/elections/election%5Fresults/2008%5F1104/001.htm

McCain: 52.4% 2,012,576 votes
Obama: 46.9% 1,800,008 votes

Senate:

Chambliss does not have 50% -- he has 49.9%

9. Where did you see that? The SoS website says 100% in, but obviously,
I don't really trust that. The TPM AP interactive map is no longer loading for me. Where are you looking?

10. SoS site shows 96% reporting
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 10:02 AM by mohc
Many counties are missing a single precinct, most likely early voting. Fulton 340/344 and Dekalb 196/199, so 7 precincts between the 2 still out including early voting.

http://www.sos.georgia.gov/elections/election%5Fresults/2008%5F1104/001.htm|GA Results by County>

Edited to add:

If whats missing is indeed early vote counts in Fulton and Dekalb, which had 168k and 178k early votes respectively, if they split the same way the counties did on election day the gap between Obama and McCain would shrink by 170k to around 40k.

6. Latest Update on SOS website from 9:15 a.m.
Chambliss 49.8%
Martin 46.8%

Please let this stay under the magic 50% or let Martin take it outright...
