So For Those Of Us Surrounded By Repubs
When you see them now... and they start complaining about Obama winning or how the sky is going to fall down now, or we are going to be socialist country now,

What is going to be your response?

Got any good ones thought up for anyone you know in particular?

7. whistling "don't worry be happy" is an excellent non-combative response though.

3. they have been living in an alternate reality for so long
I plan to set an example and do as Obama did throughout this whole campaign - let the smears roll off my back. I believe we can unite this country again, but we have to start locally.

5. I walked in the door, haven't been on in 2 days, and I was accused of
jumping on people and bashing my ideas against them.... I guess they know how they acted, and are afraid we are going to re-act the same disgusting way. It was absolutely crazy... We can't talk about the greatest historical event of my lifetime at work at all.

"Oh, well, no worries- he can't possibly screw things up more than Bush! Oh, but he did tell me that first thing he's gonna do is give all of my money to the blacks. so, I guess you're next? Alright then, see ya around!"

HEe hee......

I won't really say that last part. But I'd like to just to see their faces.

8. I work for a small company and everyone knows my political views.
I honestly don't think that those who voted for McCain are all that disappointed today. We all sat and discussed it for 15 minutes or so this morning before we had to start work and I didn't hear any derogatory comments toward Obama at all. I was pleased and surprised.

11. I live in red hell, here's what to say.......
....when they ask about socialism. "What in the hell do you think we have been enduring the last thirty years? We have seen socialism on its grandest scale, except it has been socialism for the rich! For thirty years the money has been funnelled to the top of the economic spectrum while we have watched the withering of the middle class. You didn't seem to have a problem with that, so why should you worry if we start funnelling a little of that money back to those who deserve it most? If you like the practice of outsourcing instead of companies hiring Americans, you support corporate socialism. If you like our government spending money hap-hazardly on defense contractors without competitive bids, you support corporate socialism. If you like our government bailing out private industry such as airlines, banks, auto industries, and wall street firms, you support corporate socialism! So, don't give me this socialism shit! It has been a part of democracy since the beginning of this great nation, and you, my friend, are not qualified to determine what is socialism and what is not if you can't recognize that.

The middle class is disappearing. These are the men and women who built and made America great. They fight and die in our wars, they build our highways and infrastructure, they fix our cars, build our houses, teach our kids, and bag our groceries. These are the people we see and rely on everyday. If you think we should slap them in the face and tell them the rich deserve more, then you can cast your vote for corporate socialism, mine goes to my fellow man....I am American, I vote for Americans, I vote for the middle class. You can kiss my ass if you think I will ever again vote for someone who wants to pillage our treasury and redistribute the wealth to the rich. You ask for, you got it!"

I have been waiting eight years to dump on these bastids. Now, they get the whole load!

edit:
In case anyone thinks this is class envy, it's not. I am a millionaire capitalist business owner, but I still belileve my fellow man is more important than the guys I let manage my money. The little guys helped me make my fortune, the bankers just cost me over a quarter million dollars in the stock market bust. I know who butters my toast, and I feed the horse I ride the best, not the one I have for show in the stable. I learn from mistakes, and the last eight years have been one of the biggest mistakes in this countries history. When we recognize this, we can work together to move forward.

16. Do you live in Utah?
Seriously - I love your response. With all the pissing, moaning, and "the sky has fallen" crap they're spewing, the best thing we can do is get them to articulate what exactly the problem is, and then rationally counter with FACTS.

Excellent post, Uben!

18. No, I live in Texas
....and for eight years, I've been almost embarassed to admit it, because of GW BUsh. I live in a gated community that is 95% republican elite. The purple band-aid lady from 2004 republican convention is my neighbor. She was also involved in the strike force sent to Florida in 2000 to protest the recount. I am out-numbered here, but not outsmarted. They repeat what they are told....I tell em how it really is, whether they like it or not! And to be honest, most of them are speechless when confronted by reason and truth!

19. My response
I sincerely hope our republican representatives from our state will truly work for bipartisanship, not the obstructionism that was evident during the Clinton and Bush years on both sides of the isle. I promise you I will hold our representatives feet to the fire and demand they work for ALL of us. I will give Obama/Biden the chance and support to restore our place in the world, bring our troops home safely, restore confidence in our economy and find real solutions to health care, energy and global climate change. I will dot this not because I'm partisan, but because I care about the future for my children and your children. I sincerely hope you will do the same and we can move forward.
