An apology and sadness from Mississippi
"We" elected not one but two republican senators on such a great night for America. Now I have two reasons to drink, one good and one bad. I await your sympathetic offering (or chastisement, whatever you deem appropriate.)

1. "We" returned the Fair-Tax swindler and Iraq war cheerleader John Linder to Congress
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 09:23 AM by bunkerbuster1
That sure sucks.

Still, Linder's challenger closed the gap by nine points over his predecessor's effort in 2006. We're coming around here in GA.

(edited to add)

His challenger being Doug Heckman, good man, ran a decent campaign.

2. Well, bat shit crazy Michele Bachmann is returning to Congress, proving
once and for all that Anoka County deserves some kind of banishment from our good state. Norm Coleman :puke: "won" it by a squeaker, and Al Franken is asking for a recount, but still. I wanted to have Wellstone's seat back right now. While I'll toss my beret in the air for Obama, I'm saddened by the aforementioned.

19. I'm SO disappointed in the 6th district! I wonder how many
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 11:06 AM by myrna minx
voted for "socialist" Barack Obama AND bat shit crazy Michele Bachmann. :(

. What's funny, is the people of her district didn't mind receiving the socialistic funds to build a light rail train from the Twin Cities up to St Cloud. Her district is rather carved up:

Thanks for letting me vent. :grr: The only solace I have is that her fellow COngressman, my congressman, is a socialist by her standards AND a Muslim.

3. Welll.. Florida ditched a couple
Maybe that might make up for being Flor-i-duh!

I understand how you feel. You can feel better by knowing we have a very strong majority in both the house and senate.

4. I'm in Louisiana
We held on to Mary Landrieu which isn't saying much, but its better than that Kennedy freak she was running against. Oh, and we still have Diaper Dave Vitter, so I won't be throwing any stones over the Mississippi River atcha.

:-)

6. More than sympathy
You're hanging in there, being who you are in one of the toughest environment in the country. You're the kind of person who has brought a diversity of thought to other states. Someone has to be there to do it in the last holdouts.

12. It's not all bad.
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 09:54 AM by Beacool
I believe in checks and balances. It's a good thing to have the majority, but it's also a good thing to have a balance of power. I've lived in countries where no one dares to object to the president for fear of retaliation.

All politicians should have their feet held to the fire, even those we like and voted into office. A little opposition we'll keep our Dems. on their toes.

14. BOSSHOG, there is an upside, even in Mississippi
A higher percentage of voters in your state voted for Obama than they did for the Democratic candidate in the last 2 elections.

who my bet is will soon be replaced by none other than Sarah Palin.

and we voted for Barack.

Trust me, Mississippi's time is coming.

18. Even Blue CA screwed up a few
It looks like Prop 8 banning Gay marriage in our state constitution passed and SF did not name the sewage treatment plant after GW Bush.

Sometimes things just don't make a lot of sense.
