30. i gotta say, it's been like a dream....

i have been in shock since my husband woke me up to tell me obama won. i had fallen asleep watching the coverage of the election. he said he heard the cheers from the tv and came in and saw that obama won. but until i clicked on this link and heard the 'yes we can' song, it had been surreal. as i heard the words of our 44th president before we had any expectation to believe it could happen.... oh, the tears started to fall. and i got goosebumps. It feels so empowering the idea that we took back our country. and we did not allow fear to be the deciding factor this time. There aren't words to describe how my heart is reeling right now. I didn't think it was possible. I carried a pit in my stomach all day yesterday as I feared somehow it would be stolen. How beautiful the idea of tomorrow. Yes, there are tough days ahead.... but the fact that we refused to be cowed or frightened into a corner. This was not just a win for obama.... or the democrats.... it was a win for all of us out here in america who have felt so hopeless to change anything.... so disenfranchised by the outcome of the past two elections. no matter what happens moving forward... at least we know that it was not done by thugs or thieves... or a supreme court... but by we the people.
