Who else thinks that Obama's speech last night was the greatest
speech they have ever heard?

I have an old book of great speeches of the nineteenth century. It always amused me and I could not understand how, that in the days before recording, radio and television, people could hang onto every word of a great orator.

Now I understand!

2. I was hoping and expecting...
...that he'd revive "YES WE CAN" last night.

I turned to my wife and said, for the first time in 8 years, "There's OUR President"!

3. It was a new dawn for me...
The entire atmosphere afte Obama was announced as President. I haven't cried yet because I am still in shock stuff in deep thoughts. I just held my head down thinking about my ancestors from the start all the way to me as I sit here and witness this moment in history. But the sight of the crowd, the views from around the country, the JOY. The prayer that the preacher lead over that Chicago crowd and also when the next speaker led the NATION in the Pledge of Allegiance as I stood in the living room with my mom with both of our hands over our hearts. We took our country back last night. The look on Obama's face, the smiles on his wife and children's face. Obama and Biden victorious in victory... I can't believe it. I am so glad that I am here. This was a LANDSLIDE.

4.  Not me.
Even Obama has not surpassed his speech on race, which he gave in Philadelphia during the primaries.

7. Very good point!
On substance, I think you are right. On emotion, I think last night was better. When presented in the printed word, The Philly speech should be considered one of the greatest speeches of our generation.

5. I just had a Republican colleague come into my office and say...
It was second only to some speeches he had heard by John Kennedy.

He said if Obama follows through, he won't have any problem supporting him.

You have to understand, that this person was really upset with me for supporting Obama (I keep it quiet at work, as long as others do the same - but he asked specifically)
