Poll question: Did the Republicans try to steal the election yesterday?
I watched the turnouts all day yesterday. IMO, Obama probably pulled closer to 60% than to 52%. I think the machines were rigged to give McCain a 5% boost. In other years, that would have been enough. Last night, Obama's victory was too big to steal.

So, what do you think?

3. Absolutely. And we need to make verifiable voting one of our first priorities!!!!
2012 may not give us that 5% cushion. And we'd probably have a veto proof senate with a secure voting system. Can u say Georgia??

8. I was thinking last night that that's DU's new goal - now that we've
made Bush into history, we need to repair the system that allowed him to steal the Presidency in the first place!

5. Did you hear Greg Palast on Stephanie Miller's show today?
I'm too hungover to remember all what he said, but Georgia was the most blatant example of where it was STILL stolen.

But as I said all along..... overall, turnout trumps fraud, and it sure the fuck did this time!

7. Of course they did!
Hell, they tried several attempts at disenfranchisement all over (FAIL!) and so many other dirty moves, that I can't imagine they just let this go. I think Obama's support was even bigger than predicted, partially due to cell phone users being under-represented, so they miscalculated. Also, look how they tried to set up the excuse with ACORN, etc., just so people would question the results.

9. the rethugs are saying
that the count is lower this time around... thus their "Base" did not turn out.

I THINK the EXTRA electronic votes did not materialize...
...I say extra as the machines that added votes out of thin air were quarantined...

10. I wonder how many provisional ballots..
were cast, or how many people had to go to work and couldn't wait in line, let alone accurate tabulation of votes cast. I suspect that once again the problems related to our voting systems will fade in the background for another four years. Then people will once again bemoan our elections when it's far too late to do anything, and demand that a candidate fix how our state runs it's elections. I guess it's not our votes that matter, but everyone else's.
