Going to the Inauguration? Advice needed for volunteers |
Just got a call from one of our industrious volunteers - she wants to go to the inauguration. I know nothing about any plans and have no advice to give her. Do the campaigns make plans for their supporters? Where can she go to get info? Any advice for the best places to stay, watch the parade, get tickets to events, any help?

2. Start working the phones and e-mails with every connection you've got.. |
especially for the balls, you've got to know somebody who is connected somewhere, because they are tough to get sometimes. As far as the parade, only the muckety mucks get grandstand seats, but the general public can line up along the route without a ticket. GET THERE EARLY, there will be a HUGE crowd, and it will probably be very cold, so dress warm.

4. I don't have any contacts - but I will ask at Obama HQ today if they have any plans |
My volunteer that asked wants advice, but since I never go to big events (25 people are too much of a crowd for me, the inauguration would be a nightmare!) I will relay everything to her. Thanks!

6. Inaugural Ball is DEFINITELY not for you then.. |
it is a claustrophobics worst nightmare. You wouldn't be missing much either, they're crowded, fairly boring affairs. It's impossible to get drink or food. It's one of those "I can say I was there" things.

7. Yep - I didn't even go to the local Election Night party here |
And there would have only been a few hundred people there. But one of our team members who did a lot of door to door canvassing wants to go to some of the events around the Inauguration. I flaked out today and stayed home. Tomorrow I will go to Obama HQ and see if they have any info that can help her.
Thanks!

5. She should check with her local Democratic Club and see |
they are interested in hiring transportation for anyone who wants to to? That's what I plan to do her in MD.
