4. Bummer. I paid more for a lower quality flag
hanging proudly from my house this morning.

5. Really cheesy.
I remember in 1994, I think it was, the Houston Rockets won the NBA championship. I was in a Mervyns or something and the lady in front of me was buying a whole shitload of Rockets paraphenalia. She told the clerk she was buying it all for her son so he could be popular at school now.

This flag buying business reminds me a lot of that.

7. And let me tell you MY story.....
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 12:49 PM by Clio the Leo
.... a friend of mine was minding her own business one day, doing her job, sitting at her desk at work. When out of nowhere, a jet air plane crashed into her office killing her and 3,000 other human beings.

*I* could not get into the whole flag craze thing then because I couldn't help but think that our country was turning it into an "us" vs. "them" thing. That it was OUR hypocracy as a nation that we thought that we were better than everyone that got us into the mess. And there we were celebrating it.

For the first time in seven long years, I'm feeling proud to be an American.

I will buy every flag I can find and fly it for Jackie.

8. There is nothing "cheesy" about being proud of our country--for once.
Who cares what you think?

I'm putting my flag up, proudly.
